Dr. William Derban

Dr. William Derban serves as the Head of Programs and Partnerships in the Digital Innovations Group at Opportunity International since October 2021, focusing on empowering individuals in developing countries to escape poverty through innovative solutions. As a co-founder and chairman of the Financial Inclusion Forum Africa, Dr. Derban promotes financial inclusion across the continent through digital channels. Previous roles include Market Engagement Director at GSMA, where Dr. Derban established partnerships for digital humanitarian assistance, and Director of Strategic Partnerships and E-banking at Fidelity Bank Ghana, overseeing the bank’s digital strategy. Dr. Derban has extensive experience in financial inclusion, corporate social responsibility, and project management, with a solid educational background including PhDs in Financial Inclusion and Economics, as well as an MBA in Economic Development.
