Joe Dutra

Joe Dutra, MPA, currently serves as the VP of Communications at Opportunity International since April 2023. Previously, Dutra held the position of Director Of Public Affairs at the Chicago Department of Family & Support Services, providing strategic leadership for marketing and communications initiatives. With extensive experience in external communications, Dutra excelled as the Associate Director of External Communications at Heartland Alliance, where responsibilities included crisis communications and outreach strategy. Additional roles include Media Manager and Advocacy Editor at United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, Lead Project Coordinator at Career Connect Metro West, Public Policy and Communications Associate at IFF CDFI, and Development and Advocacy Coordinator at Hesed House. Dutra began the career as a Features Reporter for The Vidette and a Radio Intern at KBS. Educational credentials include a Master of Public Administration from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Illinois State University.
