SVP, Human Resources at Opportunity International

Laura is the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Opportunity International, responsible for developing and executing human resources strategies in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization. A key member of the leadership team, the senior vice president is accountable for all Human Resource activities and has a central role in building and shaping the organizational capabilities and culture.

Laura has served Opportunity for over 20 years in a variety of roles within Human Resources. Throughout her tenure, she has managed a wide range of HR programs including talent acquisition, staffing, compensations, benefits, salary reporting, and employee services.

In 2006, she began managing Opportunity’s global human resources, overseeing the development of company policies and procedures worldwide. Since then, she has grown these global responsibilities to include expatriate employment, global compensation, performance management, and regulatory compliance.

Laura oversaw the implementation of global engagement survey to over 3,000 employees in 14 countries, working with local HR leaders and executives to ensure employee participation and follow up; managed the implementation of global HRIS for banking institutions in Ghana, Malawi, Rwanda, and Uganda, including onsite rollout and administrator training; and implemented global HR metrics and an ethics and compliance platform for the organization.

Laura holds a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University, as well as SHRM-CP certification, PRH certifications, and a certificate in HR Leadership from the Center for Creative Leadership.
