Hichem MAIZA

Hichem Maiza has a strong background in machine learning and natural language processing. Hichem currently works at OPPSCIENCE as a Senior ML Engineer starting from March 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Enghouse Interactive France / Eptica as an NLP Developer from January 2019 to March 2023.

Hichem also has experience as a Machine Learning Engineer at DeepOR from February 2018 to November 2018. During their time at DeepOR, they focused on research and development in machine learning and NLP, where they established a strategy for processing medical textual data, developed a named entity recognition model, implemented deep learning text classification models, and improved the internal speech to text tool by implementing silence removal. Their tech stack included Python, spaCy, TensorFlow, Git, and Django.

Before that, Hichem worked as a Computer Vision Software Engineer at LITIS - IT Laboratory, Information Processing and Systems from February 2015 to December 2015. During this time, they conducted research and development in computer vision and image processing. Hichem initiated scientific research, produced sparse disparity maps from unsynchronized stereo images, implemented obstacle detection and localization models using CNNs and U-V maps, and designed a real-time image classification model with an accuracy of 92.82%. Hichem also collaborated with Mrs. Rawia Mhiri to write a scientific paper which was accepted and published. Their tech stack included C/C++, OpenCV, and Git.

Hichem Maiza holds a Master's degree in Machine Learning & Natural Language Processing, which they obtained from Nantes Université between 2016 and 2018. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at École Nationale d'Électronique et des Télécommunications de Sfax (ENET'Com), where they earned a degree in Computer Science Engineering from 2012 to 2015. Before entering university, Hichem attended the Preparatory Institute for Engineering Studies - El-Manar (IPEIEM) from 2009 to 2012, where they received a preparatory degree in Science and Technology.

Furthermore, Hichem Maiza has obtained several certifications, including Deep Learning Specialization, Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization, Java for Android, Sequence Models, Structuring Machine Learning Projects, Convolutional Neural Networks, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, Responsive Web Design, Responsive Website Basics: Code with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and The Arduino Platform and C Programming. These certifications were acquired from Coursera, with the earliest obtained in March 2016 and the most recent in December 2018.
