Carson McDonald is currently the Chief Technology Officer at OpSense, a position they have held since January 2017. In this role, they have designed and developed the OpSense platform, which supports multi-cloud deployments and enables scalability and resilience. The platform is compatible with various IoT hardware technologies such as Zigbee, Bluetooth Low Energy, LoRa, WiFi, and cellular.
Prior to joining OpSense, Carson held various roles at Mission Data from 1999 to 2019. Carson started as a Senior DevOps Engineer and Senior Software Engineer, where they built and maintained UNIX systems and installed and managed software on different virtualization environments. Carson also served as a Partner and VP of Research and Development, overseeing the development of iOS apps and consulting on app development. Carson's expertise extends across multiple programming languages and frameworks, including Objective-C, Swift, Java, C++/C, PHP, Ruby, and Javascript.
Before Mission Data, Carson worked at SNE as a Senior Software Engineer, where they developed real-time software on QNX operating system using C and C++. Carson also worked at Stored Value Systems and Perot Systems as a Software Developer, contributing to the development of software systems for various clients.
Carson began their career at IBM as a Co-op, gaining early industry experience.
Carson McDonald attended Transylvania University from 1993 to 1997, where they obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science. Following that, they pursued further education at the University of Kentucky from 1997 to 1999, focusing on Computer Science.
