Neil Kornswiet

Neil is a recognized expert in litigation claims finance, real estate finance, and corporate law matters. Mr. Kornswiet is currently Chief Executive Officer of Optium Capital LLC, an investment firm that specializes in the purchase of litigation receivables in large class action lawsuits. Prior to founding Optium, Mr. Kornswiet was a member of the Board of Directors and the Office of the President of Pacific Mercantile Bank.

Prior to joining the Bank, Mr. Kornswiet was a Managing Director of UBS Investment Bank with responsibility for mortgage loan origination and servicing in North America. Prior to joining UBS, Mr. Kornswiet was the Chief Executive Officer and President of four nationwide mortgage lending companies. Two of the companies were publicly traded companies and two of the companies were funded with private placements.

Before his entry into the mortgage industry, Mr. Kornswiet was a partner and member of the management committee in the national law firm of McKenna, Conner and Cuneo specializing in corporate finance, consumer credit compliance, regulatory compliance, and operational matters for some of the largest financial institutions and investment banks in the United States and Europe. Prior to joining McKenna, Mr. Kornswiet was an associate with Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York specializing in corporate finance and general corporate matters. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Kornswiet also worked for Arthur Andersen & Co. as a staff accountant. Finally, Mr. Kornswiet has served on the board of directors of the Home Equity Lenders Leadership Organization and the National Home Equity Mortgage Association, where he co-authored the consumer bill of rights. Mr. Kornswiet received his B.S.B.A. from The Ohio State University and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.

Neil Kornswiet is involved in many charitable and civic endeavors including the Orangewood Children’s Home, Make-a-Wish Foundation, the Arthritis Foundation, and the Sage Hill School, among others.
