Martin Thomson

Martin Thomson began their work experience in 2005 as a Research Associate at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh. In 2006, they joined Optos as an Optical Engineer and worked in that role until 2009. Martin then became a Senior Optical Engineer at Optos from 2009 to 2012. Martin was then promoted to Lead Optical Systems Engineer at Optos from 2012 to 2017. Martin then transitioned to the role of Lead Systems Engineer at Optos from 2017 to 2019. From 2019 to 2022, Martin worked as an Agile Coach at Optos. Currently, they are employed as the Engineering Manager - Systems at Optos, starting in October 2022.

Martin Thomson has a strong educational background in the field of Physics and Optoelectronics and Laser Engineering. Martin obtained their Ph.D in Physics from Heriot-Watt University, where they studied from 2001 to 2005. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate education at the same institution, earning an MPhys (HONS) degree in Optoelectronics and Laser Engineering from 1997 to 2001.

In addition to their academic degrees, Martin has also pursued further certification in specific fields. Martin obtained the certification in "Architecture and Systems Engineering: Models and Methods to Manage Complex Systems" from MIT xPRO in June 2023. Martin also holds the certifications of "Certified SAFe® 6 Practice Consultant" from Scaled Agile, Inc. obtained in April 2023 and "Certified SAFe® 4 Program Consultant" from Scaled Agile Inc obtained in March 2019. It is worth noting that Martin's certification of "Certified SAFe® 5 Program Consultant" does not have specific dates of obtaining available.
