Mechanical Engineer at OptoScale

Emily Kerr has a diverse work experience with a focus on mechanical engineering. Emily is currently working as a Mechanical Engineer for OptoScale since August 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Optikos Corporation from May 2021 to August 2022 as a Mechanical Engineer.

Emily also gained experience in engineering roles through co-op positions. Emily worked as a Hardware Engineering Co-op at Amazon Robotics from January 2020 to June 2020, where they contributed to the design and integration of sensor and camera calibration assemblies for an autonomous load-carrying robot.

Emily also had co-op experience as a Mechanical Engineering Co-op at Square Robot Inc. from January 2019 to August 2019, where they managed the mechanical aspects of transportation and deployment of a submersible tank inspection robot.

Furthermore, Emily had an internship at XL | Fleet Electrification from January 2018 to June 2018, where they developed and integrated the cooling system for the XL Hybrid Ford F-250.

Emily's earlier work experience includes leadership roles in engineering projects during their time at Northeastern University Baja SAE. From September 2019 to June 2021, they served as the Team Captain, responsible for various leadership duties and overseeing the full vehicle design. Emily also had the role of Technical Team Lead from September 2016 to June 2021, where they supervised welding activities and ensured the feasibility of design.

Emily's passion for music is evident in their involvement with various orchestras. Emily served as the Executive Board President and Concertmaster for the Northeastern University Symphony Orchestra from September 2018 to April 2020. Emily also held the position of Concertmaster for the Ridgefield High School Symphonic Orchestra from September 2013 to June 2016, as well as the WESTERN CONNECTICUT YOUTH ORCHESTRA INC during the same period.

Lastly, Emily was actively involved in the Ridgefield High School Music Department, where they served as the Student Executive Board President from September 2013 to June 2016.

Emily Kerr received their Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, where they pursued their education from 2016 to 2021.
