David Leuenberger

David Leuenberger, MBA has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. David began their career as an Intern at CSEM in 1995. David later pursued their PhD in Photonics at EPFL, where they developed simulation tools for photonic crystals modeling and collaborated on an international scientific project.

Following their academic pursuits, David worked as a Freelancer for Association du Corps Intermédiaire de l'EPFL (ACIDE) in 2004. David then joined the University of California Berkeley as a Postdoctoral Researcher, conducting research in micro- and nanotechnology, integrated optics, and optical communication networks.

In 2007, David joined CSEM Basel as an R&D Engineer, where they managed projects related to printed/organic electronics. David was responsible for capability building, client presentations, and the generation of a patent application. David was then promoted to Senior R&D Engineer, in which they led a multidisciplinary inter-divisional development project on biosensors and acquired a new industrial client.

In 2013, David became a Co-Founder and held the position of Engineering & General Management at Crealumina, a startup focused on LED lighting, 3D printing, and parametric designs. David managed general operations and prototype manufacturing, sourcing components from China.

Since 2014, David has been with Optotune, initially as a Sales Manager and subsequently progressing to roles including Business Development Manager, Senior Business Development Manager, and currently, Head of Product Management. Given their extensive experience in sales, business development, and management, David has been instrumental in driving Optotune's growth and success.

David Leuenberger has a strong education background in both business administration and scientific fields. David completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh Business School (EBS) from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, they pursued a Postdoc in Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley from 2005 to 2006. David also holds a PhD in Physics from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne), which they acquired from 2000 to 2004. David'seducational journey began with a Master's degree in Physics from the University of Bern, which they completed between 1995 and 2000.
