Burak Himmetoglu

Burak Himmetoglu is an accomplished data science professional with extensive experience in building machine learning systems for fraud detection and predictive analytics in healthcare. Currently serving as Director of Data Science at Optum since August 2019, Burak previously held the position of Senior Manager of Data Science and has developed predictive analytics that generate approximately $720 million in annual savings. Prior to Optum, Burak worked as a Data Scientist at SerImmune Inc., focusing on peptide sequence data analysis and machine learning frameworks for diagnostic applications. Burak also contributed to high-performance computing and computational physics research as a consultant and research associate at UC Santa Barbara and the University of Minnesota. Burak holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. in Physics from Bilkent University.
