Shannon Alfaro

Part-time Faculty at Orange Coast College

Shannon Alfaro is an experienced educator in the field of computer science, currently serving as a Lecturer at UC Irvine since January 2003, where a wide range of courses has been taught including Intro to Computer Science in both Python and Java, Programming Languages, and Operating Systems. In addition to this role, Shannon has been a Part-Time Faculty member at Orange Coast College since August 2016, teaching Java Programming. As Curriculum Director for Dreams for Schools since May 2013, responsibilities have included overseeing educational programs. Previous teaching experience includes being an Instructor at Blizzard Entertainment, where Intro to C++ was taught, and serving as Adjunct Faculty at Saddleback College. Shannon's technical journey began as a Software Engineer at Optivus Technology. Educational credentials include a Master of Science in Computer Science from UC Irvine and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of California, Riverside. Shannon has also been recognized as a DTEI Faculty Fellow and has advised student organizations focused on women in computer science.
