Julien Marchal

Julien Marchal is an experienced executive currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer for Strategy and Governance for the New Back End Program at Orano since May 2025. As an author, Julien published the book 'Defeating Populism: Building the Social Contract of the 21st Century' in July 2024. Prior to these roles, Julien was the Director of Strategy and Sustainable Development at EDF Renouvelables from May 2023 to June 2025, where responsibility included overseeing strategic issues and decisions. Julien also held the position of General Manager for the Renewable Energies Department at Compagnie Nationale du Rhône from October 2021 to May 2023, managing P&L for solar and wind projects. As Executive Director at France Énergies Marines from December 2017 to October 2021, Julien defined the strategy for industrial R&D and created a company for R&D program hosting. Julien holds a Diplôme d'ingénieur in Mathematics and Physics from École Polytechnique and a diplôme d'ingénieur in City, Environment, Transport, and Energy from École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.
