Senior Mission Control And Ground Segment Engineer at Orbex Space

Federica Bonetti has worked in the aerospace engineering field since 2013. Federica began their career as an Internship for Master's Thesis Research at the Research Centre ENEA Casaccia Roma, where they worked with software such as Fortran90, Matlab, and OriginPro. Her Master's thesis project was focused on Heliocentric transfer orbit via Solar-Photon Sailing.

In 2015, they joined The University of Glasgow as a Research Assistant, where they worked on Space-Enhanced Solar Power for Equatorial Regions. Federica also completed their PhD in Aerospace Engineering: Control Systems for Climate Engineering, which included projects such as Space solar shields to counteract climate change and Mission analysis of large parabolic orbiting mirrors.

In 2018, Federica joined CGI as a Flight Dynamics Engineer, where they worked on projects such as Galileo 2nd Generation E2E simulation model with optimized data routing including inter-satellite links, Trajectory design and optimization of GTO2GEO transfer with chemical and electrical propulsion for H2Sat contingency plan in Pleniter Orbit, and the development of 'GENEOS': ESOC flight dynamics operational software for ESA Earth’s Observation Missions.

Most recently, in 2021, Federica joined Orbex as a Senior Mission Control and Ground Segment Software Engineer, and a Mission Control and Ground Segment Software Engineer.

Federica Bonetti's education history includes a Master's degree in Astronautical Engineering from Sapienza Università di Roma from 2011 to 2014, a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Sapienza Università di Roma from 2008 to 2011, and a Scientific Diploma from Scientific Liceum "G.B. Scorza", Cosenza from 2004 to 2008. Additionally, they have obtained a Certified SAFe® 5 Practitioner from Scaled Agile, Inc. in June 2021, and an ECDL: European Certificate Driving Licence.
