Mark Sabol has a diverse work experience in various scientific research and business roles. Mark began their career as a Borlaug-Ruan Intern at AVRDC - The World Vegetable Center, where they completed multiple yield trials and independently designed sprouting trials for crop viability. Mark then worked as a Laboratory Technician at Cornell University, performing wet and dry lab work including DNA and RNA analysis, PCR/qPCR/rtPCR, molecular cloning, and fluorescence microscopy.
Mark later joined the Boyce Thompson Institute as a Research Associate, where they developed an in vivo proximity labeling system and collaborated on producing proteins in plants for commercial applications. Mark gained experience in protein engineering, SDS-PAGE, ELISA, HPLC, and assay development.
Mark then transitioned to a partner role at Sahar Global Summits, where they successfully ran a boutique, invitation-only summits firm. There, they focused on bringing together institutional investors and fund managers for alternative investments.
Most recently, Mark worked at GreenLight Biosciences, Inc. as a Research Associate, contributing to the development of an analytical platform for RNA production. Mark developed new assays to study the structure and purity of RNA/DNA molecules and regularly presented research to broader audiences.
Currently, Mark is employed at Orbital Therapeutics as a Research Associate II.
Mark Sabol completed their Bachelor of Science in Plant Science with a focus in Biotechnology and Molecular Biology from Cornell University between 2015 and 2019. Prior to attending Cornell, they attended New Visions Life Sciences in 2014 and 2015, where they studied Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, and Microbiology. Before that, Mark received their New York State High School Regents Diploma from South Seneca Central School in 2013 through 2015.
In addition to their formal education, Mark Sabol obtained several certifications. In June 2018, they completed certifications in Chemical Waste Disposal, Cryogen Handling, Laboratory Safety, and Worker Protection Standard, which were granted by the Environmental Health and Safety institution. In February 2015, Mark also acquired Select Agent Training from the same institution.
