Kris Okumu

Kris Okumu has a diverse work experience in the medical field. In 2002, they started their career as an Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon. They went on to work as the Medical Director at The Spine Health Institute from November 2012 to August 2019. In 2019, they joined Peninsula Orthopaedic Assoc as an Orthopaedic Surgeon/Spine Surgeon, and continued until October 2020. In March 2020, they became the Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Seton Medical Center, but left the position in November 2020. They also co-founded Orcana in April 2020, where they hold the role of Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer. Currently, in 2020, they are working as a Spine Surgeon and Orthopaedic Surgeon at COASTAL HEALTH PARTNERS. Additionally, in 2012, they founded Oculapps, a company that develops a solution to stream images and data to surgeons and doctors for image-guided surgery, until February 2020. Overall, Kris Okumu has built an impressive career in the medical field, with expertise in spine surgery and leadership roles.

Kris Okumu's education history starts with completing a Bachelor's degree in Molecular and Cell Biology/Biochemistry at the University of California, Berkeley. Following this, Kris attended the University of California, Davis - School of Medicine, where they obtained a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. Kris then pursued further specialization in the field of Orthopaedic Surgery by joining the San Francisco Orthopaedic Residency Program from 2002 to 2007. Finally, Kris gained expertise in Spine Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery/Weill Cornell Medical College/New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
