Charlotte Clayton

Clinical Lead for Maternity and Women's Health at ORCHA

Charlotte Clayton has a strong background in midwifery and clinical research. Charlotte began their career in 2009 at the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, where they worked as a midwife and clinical research midwife until 2017. During this time, they developed expertise in providing midwifery care across various settings and worked in a continuity of care model for two years. Charlotte also worked as a researcher for the NIHR Clinical Research Network as part of the Pre-Doctoral Clinical Academic Training Programme from 2013 to 2015. In 2017, they joined the University Hospital Southampton NHS FT as a midwife, specializing in midwifery-led, community caseload management. Charlotte provided antenatal and postnatal care to a caseload in an area of social deprivation. In 2020, they joined ORCHA as the Clinical Lead for Maternity and Women's Health, where they provided clinical advice and guidance on digital health technologies, particularly in the field of FemTech. Currently, Charlotte is working as an Iolanthe Midwifery Research Fellow at the Iolanthe Midwifery Trust, focusing on midwifery research.

Charlotte Clayton has a diverse education history. Charlotte completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Midwifery at the University of Northampton from 2006 to 2009. Following their undergraduate studies, they obtained certification as a Midwife from The Nursing and Midwifery Council in July 2009.

In 2013, Charlotte pursued further education at the University of Nottingham, where they earned a Master of Arts (MA) in Research Methods with a Health pathway specialization. Charlotte completed this program in 2015.

Currently, Charlotte is enrolled in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at Bournemouth University since 2017. Charlotte is a PhD Researcher, though the specific field of study is not provided.

Throughout their educational journey, Charlotte has demonstrated a commitment to continuously expanding their knowledge and expertise in the field of midwifery, healthcare research methods, and now pursuing a research career in their PhD program.
