Peter G. Barr-Gillespie

Peter Barr-Gillespie serves as the Chief Research Officer and Executive Vice President at Oregon Health and Science University, where responsibilities include advising on research strategy and managing the research enterprise. Peter also holds the position of Professor of Otolaryngology, leading a laboratory focused on mechanotransduction by inner ear sensory hair cells. Additional roles include interim Senior Vice President for Research and Associate Vice President of Basic Research, contributing to strategic advisory councils and oversight committees. Peter is a member of the Board of Directors for the Oregon Bioscience Association and previously served as the Scientific Director for the Hearing Restoration Project and as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for Decibel Therapeutics. Past academic positions include Associate Professor of Physiology at Johns Hopkins University and postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and the University of California, San Francisco. Peter earned a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Reed College.
