Kate McMahon is an experienced multimedia storytelling instructor at Portland Community College since September 2023. In addition to teaching, Kate serves as the publisher and writer for the Sam Day Foundation's "Well ONE DAY" newsletter, focusing on wellness articles for those affected by childhood cancer. Kate McMahon Productions was founded in 2014, where Kate operates as a television producer, director, and writer. With a long tenure at Public Broadcasting Service since 1998, responsibilities include directing, producing, and writing for various projects. Notably, Kate also directed, wrote, and produced documentaries for OPB, including Oregon Art Beat and the "Class of 2025" project. Previous roles include co-producer for FRONTLINE and producer for Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting. Kate began a career in media as a contributing writer at Metro Parent and worked as an associate producer on Alex Gibney's Oscar-nominated film about Enron. Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies from Linfield University.
