Dan Leavell

Dan Leavell is an experienced professional in forestry, natural resources, and fire science, currently serving as an Associate Professor of Practice and State Fire Specialist at Oregon State University's College of Forestry since 2014. Leavell's expertise includes consulting with landowners on land management and fire prevention, while also developing and delivering educational programs in relevant fields. Prior roles include Assistant Professor at the Klamath Basin Research and Experimental Station, Fire Chief at Cabinet View Fire Department, and Lead Ecologist at SMTL Enterprises, which was established in 2010. With a solid background in forestry obtained from the University of Montana and Oregon State University, along with extensive experience in the US Forest Service, Leavell has contributed significantly to forestry program management and ecological practices throughout a career that began in the early 1970s.
