Demian Bailey

Program Director: Regional Class Research Vessel at Oregon State University

Demian Bailey serves as the Program Director for the Regional Class Research Vessel at Oregon State University since April 2011, leading the construction of three advanced National Science Foundation-sponsored ocean-going research vessels. Prior to this role, Demian held the position of Marine Superintendent, overseeing the operation of R/V Wecoma and the OSU Marine Center in Newport, Oregon. Demian's career also includes a tenure at NOAA as the Chief of the Operations Division for the Marine Operations Center-Pacific and as Commanding Officer. Additionally, Demian worked with the DOD Space Test Program as a Navy Liaison and Mission Planner from 1998 to 2001. Educationally, Demian earned a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Marine Affairs from the University of Washington.
