Julia Brim‐Edwards

Julia Brim‐Edwards has a career that spans the worlds of business, public policy, education, and sports. As an 11‐year Nike veteran, Julia currently leads the global Government & Public Affairs team’s strategy development and execution, as well as provides the global team’s reporting and resourcing and operational support. She also leads the company’s government affairs efforts related to its current World Headquarters expansion of more than 2 million square feet, and oversees the Government Affairs Digital and Innovation, Sustainable Product & Manufacturing, and U.S. States & Local teams.

Prior to this role, Julia was Nike’s Director for the U.S. States and Local Government Affairs where she served as the leader for Nike’s policy and political work in all state and local jurisdictions in Nike’s largest market.

Julia has also served as a professional staff member for the U.S. Senate Finance Committee and U.S. Senator Bob Packwood in Washington, D.C. She served as a senior advisor to Oregon Speaker of the House Bev Clarno and as the education advisor to State Representative Randall Edwards.

As a parent of three children and a public education advocate, Julia has been a leader in the state public education community, actively working with statewide K‐12 education and university leaders. She was elected and served as the Chair of the Board of Education for Portland Public Schools, the largest urban school district in the Pacific Northwest, and her current and past service on other education or youth‐oriented boards, commissions, and coalitions include: Co‐founder, Nike School Innovation Fund (invested more than $10M in Oregon public schools since 2007); Board member, Portland Schools Foundation; Board member, Oregon Education Investment Board; Co‐founder and leader, 10 Great Fields Project (community project that built a synthetic turf field and new track at every Portland Public School high school); Commission member, Oregon Child Care Commission; Board member, Portland State University Graduate School of Education Advisory Board; Member: Portland Parents Coalition (high school advocacy coalition); H.O.P.E (Help Out Public Education, a Multnomah County community advocacy coalition); and PIL Fan Base (parent coalition that restored funding for trainers, transportation, coaches in high schools in PPS; supported the establishment of equitable middle school sports programs in PPS); Interim Chair, Coalition for School Funding Now!; Member, Mt. Tabor Middle School Site Council; and Member, Lincoln High School Site Council.

Her business and community service includes service on many statewide and regional business and community boards, including the Oregon Business Association, Portland Business Alliance, and the Oregon Business Council, Pioneer Courthouse Square.

Julia has a B.A. in German (with highest scholarship) from Oregon State University (1984). In 2015, she was inducted into the Portland Interscholastic League Hall of Fame for her high school athletic achievements, including 12 Varsity letters and she is in the Glencoe (PPS K‐8) Hall of Fame.

Julia lives with her husband, Randall Edwards, and son in her childhood home in SE Portland.
