Melinda Shutler serves as the Education Manager at Oregon Zoo since November 2022, leading the Education Team in delivering impactful conservation education and overseeing the redesign of the team post-COVID. Previously engaged at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium from December 2015 to October 2022 as the Conservation Engagement Coordinator, Melinda coordinated programs focused on conservation leadership development and collaborated on diversity, equity, access, and inclusion initiatives. Prior experience includes a tenure at Oakland Zoo from May 2005 to November 2015 as the Program Director for Teen Volunteers and Secondary School Programs, managing various volunteer and educational programs for youth. Melinda holds a Master of Arts in Teaching, Biological Sciences from Miami University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, graduating summa cum laude from Dominican University of California.
