Senior Africa Section Keeper at Oregon Zoo

Michelle Schireman has over 25 years of experience in animal care, primarily at the Oregon Zoo, where Michelle currently serves as the Senior Africa Section Keeper. Michelle's expertise encompasses roles as a Zoo Keeper in the Africa, Quarantine, and North America Sections, with extensive involvement in puma population management as the AZA Felid TAG Puma Population Manager and SSP Coordinator. Previous experience includes being a free contact African Elephant Keeper and contributing to the establishment of a Sumatran Tiger breeding facility at Zoo Atlanta. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology with a focus on Predator Behavior from Washington State University and has foundational education from Everett Community College and Everett High School.
