Niamh O'Connell

Niamh O'Connell has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2017 as a Sales Assistant at Debenhams. In 2016, they worked as a Head Beach Lifeguard at Kerry County Council, a role that included supervising the beach and bathing area, providing emergency rescue services, and ensuring swimmer safety. In 2019, they became a Student Ambassador at University College Dublin, speaking at open days and recruitment fairs. In 2020, they completed a 13-week placement as a Process Engineering Intern at Sanofi, where they introduced new inspection equipment to site, developed critical aspects and control strategies, and completed GMP regulatory testing. In 2021, they worked as a Swim Instructor at IMMERSE SWIMMING LIMITED and as a Surf Instructor at Kingdom Waves Surf School Inch Banna beach. Currently, they are working as an Associate Scientist in Technical Operations at Ori Biotech and as a member of the Early Career Development and Collaboration Subcommittee at British Society for Gene and Cell Therapy (BSGCT).

Niamh O'Connell is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Commercialisation and Manufacture of Stem Cell and Gene Therapies at UCL, which began in 2021. Previously, they completed a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering with a Biochemical Engineering Minor from University College Dublin from 2017 to 2021. In 2018, they also earned an HBX Certificate of Readiness from Harvard Business School Online in Business. Prior to that, Niamh earned their Leaving Certificate from Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí in 2011-2017.
