Mike McNeil is a Senior Architect at Origin Design. Mike has over 17 years of experience in the architectural field and has been with Origin Design for 7 years. Prior to joining Origin Design, Mike worked at Studio 483 Architects for 13 years where they were a Project Architect and Production Supervisor. In this role, they were responsible for client contact, job prospecting, full scope of architectural services, programming, schematic design, and design development, construction documents, specifications, bidding and negotiation, construction administration, and project closeout. Mike has also been responsible for cost estimates for construction projects, coordination and supervision of support staff, drafting by hand or on computer as needed to complete work on schedule, coordinating bidding and negotiating of jobs, writing owner-architect and owner-contractor contracts, initiating change orders and reviewing pay requests and lien waivers, writing general correspondence related to pertinent jobs, coordinating scheduling with the general contractor and owner, trouble-shooting of problems in the field from sub-contractors, suppliers, and clients, sketches and drawings on the jobsite to convey details to tradesmen, and other administrative duties related to pertinent jobs. Mike is experienced in AutoCAD REVIT 2016 & Architecture 2016, Sketch-up v2015, CS5 Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Mike is also responsible for the firm’s project photography for publication and brochures. Some of their notable projects include: St. Pius X Church Hall Addition – Rock Island; MetroLINK Transfer Station – Rock Island; The Arc of the Quad Cities – New Group Homes; MetroLINK Transit Maintenance facility – Rock Island; Jordan Catholic School Addition / Remodel – Rock Island; Orion Fire Station Addition.
Mike McNeil's educational career includes obtaining an Associate of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from Black Hawk College. Mike also has certifications from the State of Illinois and the State of Iowa in Architectural Examining Board, and from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) in NCARB Certification. Finally, they have a certification from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services in Architect.
Mike McNeil reports to Mike Ruden, VP & Director, Architectural Operations. They are on a team with Nick Rettenberger - Architect, Zach Thielen - Architectural Associate, and Mat Townsley - Architectural Associate.
