Alex Newton

Alex Newton is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in procurement and finance management. Currently serving as Ethical Procurement Manager and Responsible Procurement Lead at Origin Energy since July 2022, Alex previously held various roles at the company, including Project Lead for Ethical Sourcing, where the development of the organization’s first two Modern Slavery Statements was a key achievement. Prior to this, Alex worked at Smartgroup Corporation as Senior Manager - Client Finance, overseeing finance shared services functions, and at EnergyAustralia as Group Leader, Ombudsman. Alex holds a Bachelor of Management with a focus on Marketing from the University of South Australia and is currently enhancing expertise through the Corporate Sustainability Management program at the Yale School of Management. Additional contributions include involvement in the Reconciliation Action Plan committee and advocacy as a Male Champion of Change.
