Richard Khawam

Richard Khawam is Managing Director and Chief Credit Officer for ORIX Corporation USA, where he is responsible for front office underwriting, managing credit due diligence processes, and reviewing the company’s credit strategy. He is a member of the ORIX Corporation USA Management Committee and the Enterprise Risk Management Committee.

Mr. Khawam is a senior risk professional with extensive experience in the global financial markets and expertise in structuring, underwriting, approving, and managing complex risks across multiple asset classes. Before joining ORIX USA, he was Managing Director and International Senior Credit Officer for Barclays Investment Bank. Over his ten-year career with Barclays, he served as Global Head of Leverage Finance Credit, Head of Wholesale Corporate Credit for the Americas, and Global Head of Debt Capital Markets Credit. During his 30-year career, he has also held significant roles with Wells Fargo/Wachovia Securities, Deutsche Bank in both the US and Europe, and Tamoil Services and Credit Suisse in Europe.

Mr. Khawam earned a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Economics, and Law from the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom.
