John Ross Scott

John Ross Scott is an experienced public servant and journalist with a diverse career spanning several decades. Currently serving as a Councillor for Orkney Islands Council since January 2016, John has also worked as a Relief Assistant House Parent and Night Care Assistant, caring for teenagers attending Secondary Education in Kirkwall. Prior to this, John was a Freelance Editor for Living Orkney Magazine, where notable achievements included receiving the Chairman's Award for outstanding achievement in 2011 and contributing to multiple award wins for the magazine. John's previous roles include Past Chairman of NHS Orkney and Editor of Orkney Today, a newspaper established in 2003. John has extensive council experience, having held leadership roles with Scottish Borders Council and previous positions in journalism at the Tweeddale Press Group, where John Ross fostered young journalistic talent.
