Baoyao Tang

Baoyao Tang is a seasoned mining engineering professional with extensive experience in various leadership roles across the mining industry. Currently serving as Chief Rock Mechanics Engineer at Orla Mining Ltd since March 2025, Baoyao previously held the position of Chief Geotechnical Engineer at Hecla Mining Company from April 2022 to March 2025, and also worked as Chief Mine Engineer. Prior experiences include Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Pretivm Resources, Principal Mining Engineer at AMC Consultants, and Technical Superintendent at Cameco Corporation, where Baoyao also served as Chief Mine Engineer. With early career roles as Senior Geotechnical Engineer at BHP Billiton and Senior Mine Engineer at Cameco Corporation, Baoyao possesses a robust foundation in technical and geotechnical engineering. Baoyao holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mining and Mineral Engineering from McGill University, earned between 1997 and 2000.
