Alexis Chernow has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Alexis began their career as a Legal Intern at the Loyola Immigration Law Clinic in 2010. In 2011, they worked as a Law Clerk at the Orleans Public Defenders. Alexis then joined the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee in 2012 as a Law Clerk. In 2014, they returned to the Orleans Public Defenders as a Staff Attorney and eventually rose to the position of Supervising Attorney in 2019. Currently, Alexis holds the role of Chief of Trials at the Orleans Public Defenders, starting in February 2022. Additionally, they worked as a Bartender at Boston Beerworks from 2007 to 2012.

Alexis Chernow began their education in 2003, attending the University of Colorado at Boulder, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science and Government. Alexis completed their studies in 2005. Following their undergraduate education, they enrolled at the Boston University School of Law in 2009. Alexis Chernow focused on the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Concentration and attained their Doctor of Law (JD) cum laude in 2012.

Established in 2007, OPD represents nearly 20,000 court-appointed clients each year.
