Hersen Porta

Hersen Porta is the current Chief Operating Officer at Orocobre. Prior to this, they served as Operations Director at Sika from February 2015 to July 2015, and at The Dow Chemical Company from June 1986 to December 2014.

Porta has extensive experience in managing and leading industrial operations. As Operations Director at Sika, they were responsible for increasing productivity and service efficiency at a complex industrial operation with more than four hundred raw material products and a similar number of specialty products. At The Dow Chemical Company, they were responsible for managing a world-scale operation of two ethylene crackers, four polyethylene plants, site logistics and associated utilities. Hersen also served on the board of directors for PBBPolisur S.A.

Under Porta's leadership, both Sika and The Dow Chemical Company achieved major safety milestones, moving from five accidents per semester to zero accidents over a period of several years. In addition, Porta was instrumental in developing a new logistic model that resulted in a 10% reduction in costs at The Dow Chemical Company.

Porta is a respected leader in the industry, having served as President of the Chamber of Industries located at the Port of Bahía Blanca on two occasions. Hersen is known for their ability to develop talent and build strong relationships with employees, customers and suppliers.

Hersen Porta reports to Martin Pérez de Solay, CEO. Hersen Porta works with Neil Kaplan - Chief Financial Officer & Joint Company Secretary, Ivan Gomez - General Manager, Borax Argentina, and Rick Anthon - Corporate Development Manager, General Counsel & Joint Company Secretary.
