Alexander Scheirle is the current Executive Director at Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Prior to their current position, Scheirle served as the Executive and Artistic Director at Crested Butte Music Festival from January 2004 to April 2016. In this role, Scheirle was responsible for introducing new approaches for responsible growth and innovative programming that brought artistic excellence to a community where the setting is part of the experience.
Prior to their work at Crested Butte Music Festival, Scheirle served as the Artistic- and Managing Director at Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie from January 2000 to December 2007. In this role, Scheirle was responsible for strategic planning, artistic programming, and artistic management. Alexander successfully established the orchestra in a new city by working with city officials and the public to create awareness, acceptance, and finally anticipation for new programs and concepts. Additionally, they developed all programming concepts for individual concerts while creating a complementary marketing program and brand development. Alexander was also responsible for searching the world music scene to find and evaluate soloists and special guests for featured concerts and integration with programming theme. Lastly, they were responsible for the budget and all negotiations with musicians, soloists, venues, recording labels, artists management and promoters.
Alexander Scheirle has a background in strategic partnerships in non-profit management from Harvard Business School Executive Education, advanced solo studies from Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and a masters degree in music/cello from Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Cologne/Aachen. Alexander also has a certification from Harvardx on edX in verified certificate for exercising leadership: foundational principles.
