Hens Steehouwer is a seasoned professional in the fields of econometrics and economics, currently serving as the Chief Innovation Officer and Head of Research at Ortec Finance since 2006. Hens has also been affiliated with the Econometric Institute at Erasmus University Rotterdam from 2006 to January 2024. Previous roles include membership on the Program Committee at Inquire Europe from 2007 to 2014 and the Editorial Board of Netspar from 2007 to 2012. Hens Steehouwer's career began at Ortec Finance, where various consultancy, R&D, and management positions were held from 1997 to 2005. Educational qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Econometrics from Erasmus University Rotterdam (1990 - 1996) and a Ph.D. in Economics from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (1997 - 2005).

Independent Ortec Finance was created in 2007 through a management buyout of the company ORTEC bv, which was founded in 1981 by four innovative students of econometrics at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam who believed that mathematical models could be used to optimize the performance of companies. More than 35 years later, this is still the core of our expertise.
