Jess was born in New York and moved throughout the east coast during her childhood. She has always been an avid athlete, playing multiple competitive and high-level sports growing up, including Olympic Development Soccer. After several of her own orthopedic injuries, she knew she wanted to get into healthcare. She attended Penn State University where she majored in Kinesiology and played club soccer. She went on to attend New York Chiropractic College and graduated in 2014 Summa Cum Laude with her doctorate in chiropractic medicine and sports rehabilitation. While practicing sports chiropractic in Pennsylvania, Jess went on to advance her education even further by attending the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and obtaining her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies in 2018. She returned to Pittsburgh upon graduating and began working in orthopedic surgery, focusing and specializing in hand and upper extremity care. In early 2020 Jess reunited with her family in Fort Collins to continue her education and career as an upper extremity specialist with Dr. Bret Peterson. Jess enjoys being able to provide both conservative and interventional treatment options for her patients. Outside of medicine, Jess is an avid CrossFitter and die-hard Penn State fan. She loves spending time with her husband John, a sports chiropractor, and their two dogs Mo and Maggie. You can likely find them doing anything PSU or Pittsburgh sports-related, or taking advantage of anything outdoors!
