About

Gary Shepherd has a long and varied career in the finance and real estate industries. Gary began their career in 2001 as an Assistant Manager at Deloitte, where they provided corporate tax advisory, compliance and provision cycles for a portfolio of clients. Gary then moved to Corporate Finance, focused on PPP / PFI transactions in public sector housing, schools and highways. In 2006, they joined Ernst & Young, where they advised clients on UK and international tax, achieving notable success for significant clients. In 2012, they became the Global Head of Tax and Corporate Affairs at The Abraaj Group, where they led the Tax and Corporate Affairs departments across circa 18 global offices. In 2018, they spent a year at Deloitte UK delivering multiple advisory projects. In 2019, they began working as an Independent Consultant, providing ongoing consulting support to the co-founder of Oryx Real Estate Partners, and advising early stage investment managers. Gary currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Oryx Real Estate Partners, responsible for executing the firm's strategic agenda and enabling coherence across the business.

Gary Shepherd completed a Bachelor of Science in Accounting & Finance from the University of Birmingham between 1998 and 2001. In 2004, they obtained a Fellow Chartered Accountant certification from the ICAEW. In 2020, they obtained a PRINCE2® Foundation Certification Training from AXELOS Global Best Practice and is currently enrolled in a Certificate in Business Analytics program at Harvard Business School Online.
