Cristina Mascaró Crusat

Head of Molecular and Cell Biology Department. Drug Discovery Area at Oryzon Genomics

Cristina Mascaró Crusat has extensive work experience in the field of molecular biology and drug discovery. Cristina started their career as an Adjunct Professor-Research Scientist at the Facultad de Farmacia, Universidad de Barcelona in 1999, where they participated in various competitive projects and also taught subjects like Molecular Pathology and Clinical Biochemistry. Cristina then moved on to work at I+D Grupo Uriach as a Molecular Biologist in the Screening and Lead Optimization Department, where they focused on protein expression, purification, and the development of biochemical and functional assays. Afterwards, they joined Palau Pharma as the Section Leader of Assay Development & Primary Screening, where they were responsible for the development and automation of screening assays for kinase and GPCR targets related to inflammation, allergy, and autoimmune diseases. In 2011, they joined Oryzon Genomics SA, first as the Screening Team Leader in the Biology Department, where they led a team in the development of cell-based models and in vivo screening platforms for the discovery of potential therapies for cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Cristina was later promoted to the Head of the Molecular and Cell Biology Department, where they managed a multidisciplinary team involved in all stages of drug discovery, development, and candidate nomination, with a focus on epigenetics-based therapeutics for cancer and neuron diseases.

Cristina Mascaró Crusat earned a Ph.D. in Pharmacy with a specialization in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Universidad de Barcelona. Their education at the university was completed by 1999.
