Guohua Zhang

Guohua is a co-founder of Zhang Yu & Partners, a member of the Osborne Clarke global network in China. Previously, Guohua was a partner of an international law firm based in Shanghai.

With more than a decade of experience in advising foreign investors doing business in China,

Guohua’s practice includes foreign direct investment, cross-border mergers and acquisitions and general corporate and commercial advice in China.

Guohua regularly advises international clients on the legal frameworks for undertaking business in China. From appropriate corporate structures, underlying contractual arrangements, regulatory compliance, labour and employment matters, to other wide-ranging legal issues concerning international clients in China. Guohua has a particular focus upon clients from the sectors of tech, media and comms, media, retail, and transport and automobile.

In addition, Guohua has represented multinational companies in the negotiation of transactional terms, the production of relevant transactional contracts and agreements and the coordination with governmental authorities in various transactions, including the establishment of wholly-foreign owned enterprises, joint ventures, strategic alliances and M&A transactions.

Guohua graduated from East China University of Politics and Law in 2000 and qualified as a Mainland China lawyer in 2002. He won the prestigious Lord Chancellor Scholarship for Young Chinese Lawyers for further study at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London during 2003-2004.
