Nigel is a Partner in Osborne Clarke’s restructuring and insolvency group, with over 20 years’ experience advising clients on all types of restructuring situations.

Nigel works with corporates, directors (particularly on directors’ duties), creditors, lenders, office holders, public authorities and stakeholders in pension situations (corporates, trustees and the Pension Protection Fund). He has an in-depth understanding of the complexities of these matters and is recognised as a “great all-rounder” capable of delivering pragmatic advice for his clients and a “market leader with a very strong practice”.

He is singled out by the legal directories for his “eye for detail” and “creative but workable solutions he provides” plus “his personable style” whilst being described as “very customer focused” providing “robust legal and commercial input”.

Nigel has also been involved in many restructurings for a variety of clients across a range of business sectors with an emphasis in recent times on retail, energy and utilities (particularly waste and renewables), leisure and hotels, care homes and real estate (including funds and infrastructure projects).

Recent assignments include acting for the administrators of Agent Provocateur, the purchasers of the Opal Group student accommodation portfolio, the purchasers of Hotelcare Limited through a pre-packed administration, the UK liquidators of Alitalia Airlines and in respect of many real estate restructurings.

Nigel joined Osborne Clarke in 1997 and became a partner in 2002. He remains actively involved with the work of R3 and the Institute for Turnaround.
