Olaf Schwab

Olaf Schwab currently serves as the Chief of Staff for Policy Innovation and Stakeholder Affairs at the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada, a position held since January 2023. Prior to this role, Olaf Schwab was with Fisheries and Oceans Canada from November 2015 to January 2023, where positions included Director General of Economics, Statistics and Data Governance, and Chief Data Steward, as well as Director and Manager roles focused on economic analysis and statistics. Earlier experience includes serving as Chief of Resource Economics and Bioenergy, Senior Policy Advisor, and Senior Economist at Natural Resources Canada from August 2009 to November 2015, and a Research Associate at the University of British Columbia in early 2009. Olaf Schwab's educational background includes a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Forest Economics from The University of British Columbia, a B.Sc. in Forestry from the University of Göttingen, and a Certificate in Regulatory Leadership from Odell House (Carleton University and University of Ottawa).
