Kay Villella

Kay Villella is the current Director of School & Community Relations at Osseo Area Schools. Kay has held this position for 1 year and 3 months. Prior to their current role, Kay was the Assistant Director of Communication and Public Relations for the Anoka-Hennepin School District for 9 years. In this role, they were responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the district’s communication plan, as well as serving as the communications liaison for various committees and initiatives. Kay also provided communication counsel to superintendents, principals and other administrators, and worked with the media both proactively and during crisis to share the district’s perspective. Additionally, they regularly took part in preparing for crisis the organization may face and supervised communication team members in creating quality work for the department and organization as a whole. Prior to their time at Anoka-Hennepin, Kay was a Communications Specialist for South Washington County Schools, where they were responsible for communicating to district audiences through engaging strategies and tactics, maintaining positive stakeholder relationships, and proactively working with the media to share the district’s story. Under their guidance, staff and students were able to start a sustaining television news program.

Kay Villella has a Master of Arts from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in Strategic Communications and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in Broadcast Journalism and Art.
