Theresa Kavanagh

Theresa Kavanagh currently serves as the Chair of the Ottawa Community Housing Corporation since January 2023 and has been a City Councillor for the City of Ottawa since December 2018. Prior to this, Theresa held the position of Public School Board Trustee for the Ottawa Carleton District School Board from December 2010 to December 2018, representing Bay Ward. Theresa's experience in public service includes working in the Official Opposition Whip office at the House of Commons from 1997 to December 2018 and serving as a Legislative Assistant to John Solomon, MP, from 1993 to 2000. Additional board experience includes a Directorship at Alterna Savings from 2008 to 2010. Theresa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts and Mathematics from the University of Guelph, earned between 1979 and 1982.
