Jamie Kwong is an experienced executive director and communications specialist with a strong background in leadership roles within various not-for-profit organizations. Currently serving as the Executive Director of the Ottawa Safety Council since January 2022, Jamie manages an annual operating budget exceeding $10 million and oversees initiatives focused on road and school zone safety. Previously, Jamie held the same title at the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition, fostering growth in the local music industry. Jamie's career also includes significant positions such as Executive Director at the Quartier Vanier Business Improvement Area and the Orleans Chamber of Commerce, as well as roles in communications and funding coordination at organizations such as JMK Consulting and SASC Ottawa. Jamie holds a Master of Arts in Criminology and a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Criminology from the University of Ottawa.

The Ottawa Safety Council's mission is to deliver best-in-class road safety programs and services, education, training and awareness throughout our community to drive down the number of road incidents in our community Founded as a not-for-profit, non-government organization in 1957, The root of all we do is delivering programs that prevent road accidents for all road users, no matter how traveled We deliver curriculum based pedestrian and bike safety programs in Elementary schools, ensure school zone safety through our adult crossing guards at over 200 locations, promote active lifestyles through the walking school bus program and teach children how to cycle safely. We have been delivering our motorcycle instruction programs, and licensing riders on behalf of MTO for over 50 years. We even protect our most vulnerable riders through our Best Fit car seat program. Our passion lies in advocating for road safety and sharing best practices that reduce accidents and raise awareness across all ages; and the role we can all play in driving, walking and riding safely.
