Emily Furlong

Emily Furlong has a diverse work experience that spans various industries and roles. Emily'smost recent position is as a Co-Founder at Otterspace, a company they started in 2022. Prior to this, Emily worked at SoundCloud from 2016 to 2021, where they held several roles including Senior Product Manager and Product Manager, focusing on enabling fans and creators to connect more deeply on the platform. Emily was responsible for building engaging and sticky products and played a significant role in the development and scaling of the Premier Monetization and Premier Distribution products. Emily also worked as an Operations Manager and Operations Specialist at SoundCloud, where they managed issues related to copyright and rightsholders, and ensured legal compliance and copyright policy enforcement. Before joining SoundCloud, Emily worked as an Intern in the recruiting operations team, analyzing and improving recruitment processes using analytics and reporting tools such as SQL and Tableau.

Prior to their experience at SoundCloud, Emily worked as a Trainee at EDPS - European Data Protection Supervisor in 2015, where they researched and drafted the Equal Opportunities Policy and assisted in organizing a conference on data protection and privacy. In 2013, they worked as a Summer Intern in the Corporate Responsibility department at npower, where they conducted research and presented a report on sustainability. Emily also gained experience as a Summer Intern at Deloitte in 2011.

Emily's earliest work experience was as a Law Intern at Raupach & Wollert-Elmendorff Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH in 2011, where they assisted in translating texts and gained insight into corporate law and the functioning of the legal systems in Germany and England through a workshop on jurisprudence.

Emily Furlong's education history is as follows:

Emily studied at the University of St Andrews, where they pursued an MA degree in International Relations with a focus on Philosophy. Emily then attended Harvard Law School and obtained a degree in Copyright Law in 2017.

Emily also returned to the University of St Andrews for further studies, this time earning an MSc in Psychology with a specialization in Social Psychology.

During their high school years, Emily attended the Munich International School e.V. and completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma, with a focus on Geography, Economics, and English Literature.

Prior to their university studies, Emily earned a degree in Leadership from Brown University in 2009.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Emily obtained a certification as a Scrum Product Owner from the Scrum Alliance in February 2018.
