Walter Hoehn has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Walter is currently working as a Senior Security Engineer in Identity Management at Cornell University. Prior to that, they held the position of VP of Engineering at otto JavaScript Security, where they led the backend development for a SAAS security solution and was responsible for infrastructure. Walter also worked as a Senior Back End Developer at the same company.
Before joining otto JavaScript Security, Hoehn worked at The University of Memphis as an Identity Management Technology Developer. During their tenure, they played a key role in architecting and developing identity management projects and served as the technical lead for a cloud migration program. Walter also introduced devops practices to application development, provisioning, and management.
In an earlier role at The University of Memphis, Hoehn worked as an Internet2 Technical and Applications Developer, where they were responsible for leading the development team and designing and developing various identity management projects. Walter also continued as a core developer for the Shibboleth project during this time.
Prior to that, Hoehn worked at Columbia University as a Systems Programmer in Research and Development. Walter directed the development of security systems for the National Science Digital Library and was actively involved in the Internet2 Shibboleth Project, including specification, design, programming, testing, evangelism, and support.
Their early career includes roles as a Network Systems Programmer at The University of Memphis, a UNIX Engineer at Morgan Keegan & Co Inc, and various roles at FedEx, including Programmer and Network Administrator.
Hoehn began their career as a Lab Coordinator at the University of Memphis and later worked as a Systems Administrator and Technical Consultant in the Client Services department in a part-time capacity.
Walter Hoehn's education history begins with their graduation from Christian Brothers High School in 1993. Walter then attended The University of Memphis, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance in 2009. Following that, they pursued a Master's Degree in Music Performance at the same university, completing it in 2011. Walter Hoehn continued their studies at The University of Memphis and earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 2014.
In addition to their formal education, Walter Hoehn has obtained various certifications. Walter became an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional through Amazon Web Services (AWS) in May 2019, among other certifications such as AWS Certified Developer - Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
