Yu Qian Ang

Yu Qian Ang began their professional career in 2013 as a Cost Consultant and BIM Lead at Rider Levett Bucknall, where they were part of the Singapore Building and Construction Authority industry scholarship for undergrad studies. Yu Qian then joined the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) in 2015 as an Associate Faculty, School of Science and Technology, leading a core Construction IT and Building Information Modeling (BIM) course and conducting training for professional consultants registered under the Singapore Public Sector Panel of Consultants for building projects. In the same year, they also co-founded Explorer Junior. In 2015, they joined the Ministry of Trade and Industry (Singapore) as a Senior Assistant Director, Research and Enterprise, where they planned and executed Singapore's 5-year, S$19 billion national science and technology masterplan, developed strategies to enhance the innovation and enterprise ecosystem, identified R&D areas and technological capabilities for government and enterprises to commit resources, and drafted speeches and policy positions for political-office-holders/ministers. In 2018, they joined Nekko Capital as a Venture Capital. In 2021, they became a Cofounder of Out of the Box Education, Inc. and a Consultant (Data Science/Machine Learning) at The World Bank, as well as a Fellow at the MIT Sandbox Innovation Fund Program. Currently, they are a PhD Candidate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Yu Qian Ang has a comprehensive educational history. In 2008, Ang attended The Hong Kong Polytechnic University for the Faculty of Construction and Environment (FCE) Summer School for Outstanding Postgraduates. In 2011, Ang attended Zhejiang University for the 6th Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Undergraduate Summer Program. From 2008 to 2013, Ang attended National University of Singapore and obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Project and Facilities Management. From 2014 to 2016, Ang attended National University of Singapore and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) in Building. From 2017 to 2018, Ang attended University of Cambridge and obtained a Gates Scholar in Judge Business School, MPhil in Technology Policy (Distinction). Currently, Ang is attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is working towards a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Architecture (Building Technology). In addition, Ang has obtained two certifications: an IBM Data Science Professional in February 2019, and a Bloomberg Market Concepts in July 2018.
