Gina Wright is a Program Strategy & Growth Manager at Outdoor Afro since January 2023, previously serving as a Program Assistant. Wright has experience as an Apprenticeship Program Assistant and Apprentice at Friends of Alemany Farm, and as a Contracted Executive Assistant at Canyon Oaks LLC, where administrative support and stakeholder management were primary responsibilities. Furthermore, Wright facilitated conflict resolution workshops for the Berkeley Student Cooperative and held various editorial roles at The Daily Californian, including Head Blog Editor. Academic experience includes facilitating a course at UC Berkeley that encouraged students to explore their life purposes, and previous organizational and event planning work with Earp Events & Fundraising. Wright holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of California, Berkeley.

Outdoor Afro is a national not-for-profit organization that celebrates and inspires Black connections and leadership in nature. What started as a kitchen table blog by Founder and CEO Rue Mapp in 2009 has since grown into a cutting-edge nationwide movement with 100-plus volunteer leaders in up to 60 cities. Our participation network has grown to reach 60,000 people and counting. Outdoor Afro reconnects Black people with the outdoors through outdoor education, recreation, and conservation.
