Matthew Reese is an accomplished leader with over a decade of experience in real estate investment, development, and valuation. As President and CEO of James & Associates Real Estate Appraisals, Inc. since 2014, Matthew has honed expertise in valuation services while concurrently serving as Director of Strategic Partnerships and Regional Lead for Outdoor Afro, an organization focused on environmental justice. Matthew has held key roles in various organizations, including commercial appraising at Lamb Hanson Lamb Appraisal Assoc. and leadership positions in startups and nonprofit boards. An MBA graduate with a focus on Real Estate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Matthew also holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California and further certifications in Commercial Real Estate, further enhancing a comprehensive skill set in project management, financial management, and client relations.

Outdoor Afro is a national not-for-profit organization that celebrates and inspires Black connections and leadership in nature. What started as a kitchen table blog by Founder and CEO Rue Mapp in 2009 has since grown into a cutting-edge nationwide movement with 100-plus volunteer leaders in up to 60 cities. Our participation network has grown to reach 60,000 people and counting. Outdoor Afro reconnects Black people with the outdoors through outdoor education, recreation, and conservation.
