Kayla Collins, MPH is the Director of Health and Wellness at OUTMemphis. Kayla moved to Memphis in 2015 from Middle Tennessee to pursue her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Memphis. Her most recent degree awarded was her Master’s in Public Health. She has spent the past 8+ years working and providing advocacy in sexual and reproductive health, racial inequities, mental health, violence, and substance abuse. She has a passion for serving the community and being an active voice for those in need.
Kayla spends most of her work days creating an inclusive environment that all people can benefit from, especially those in underrepresented communities. She has a passion for providing strategic goals and initiatives to destigmatize biases made against these communities and to ensure every individual has the resources they need to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle. Outside of the enjoyment she has from helping others, she also enjoys hiking, traveling, and anything that involves adventure in her free time!
Kayla chose to expand her career at OUTMemphis so that she could serve the various communities she loves in many ways. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, she strives to make the community in Memphis more diverse, inclusive and accepting. With this experience, she hopes to create a community that is educated and well-versed in public health dynamics and to spread inclusivity of the community.
