Alex Knol

Alex Knol has an extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Alex is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer and Global Head of Architecture at Outpost24, leading the Architecture team and the Threat Intelligence Engineering Department. In this role, they are responsible for budgeting, planning, and operations for the Engineering department.

Prior to their current position, Alex worked as an Engineering Manager at Blueliv, where they supported the team in building and maintaining data acquisition and processing systems for the Threat Intelligence unit. Alex acquired data from multiple sources and processed it into actionable information for customers.

Alex also served as the Manager Api & Identity at IWG plc, where they managed the cloud native system and the team responsible for the API layer. Alex designed the architectural basis for integration with backend systems.

Before joining IWG, Alex worked at NearForm as the Director of DevOps, Senior DevOps Consultant, and DevOps Engineer. Alex played a key role in shaping the DevOps practice, developing services and OSS products, and building a world-class infrastructure with Kubernetes, Postgres, and a NodeJS software stack.

Prior to NearForm, they were the Tech Lead and acting CTO at CoBrowser.net, where they spearheaded the design of new event-based reporting architecture and designed a new architecture for faster and more reliable deployment. Alex used GoCD, Docker, Kubernetes, and various scripting languages for automation.

Earlier in their career, Alex held roles such as Lead Engineer, Software Engineer, Senior Frontend Developer, and Lead Software Engineer at companies like Pumiwex S.L., RisingTool, Northwest Science, Monitae, and Choizzes International BV. Alex also worked as a software developer at TNO.

Before venturing into the field of technology, Alex was the director/owner of Iwex b.v., where they managed sales, marketing, and logistics. Alex was responsible for building back-office and transactional software using PHP and MySQL.

Alex'scareer started at PTS, where they worked as an account manager and later as a team leader. Alex managed a team of engineers and worked on projects related to Windows technology, BTS traffic monitoring systems, and Y2K mitigation software.

Alex Knol attended MBO Hoorn Electronica / technische computerkunde from 1990 to 1994, where they earned a degree in Electronica / technische computerkunde with a focus on Technical Computerscience. Alex then went on to study PR marketing at Instituut Notenboom from 1994 to 1996.
