Asaf Shoval

Asaf Shoval has a diverse work experience in various research and engineering roles. Asaf is currently working as a Research and Algorithm Engineer at OutSense since March 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Researcher at the Ophthalmic Science and Engineering Laboratory, Bar-Ilan University from March 2016 to December 2020. In this role, their research focused on developing new methods for treating and monitoring macular degeneration using hybrid nanocomposite materials, and they worked with various imaging modalities.

Before that, Asaf worked as an R&D Engineer at Novoxel – Small Smart Systems from January 2015 to January 2016. Asaf was part of the product development team and was responsible for circuit design, motion control, and software development.

Asaf also worked as a PhD student at Tel Aviv University from November 2009 to July 2014, where their research focused on developing a multimodal system for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Asaf was involved in designing and developing experimental setups using laser systems, optical components, thermal imaging, and acoustic signal measurements. Asaf also served as a Teaching Assistant during this time and completed their M.Sc. in the Nano-center in 2009.

At Intel, Asaf worked as a Quality and Reliability Engineer from December 2004 to October 2007. Asaf conducted experiments to evaluate the quality and reliability of Intel's chips and worked with chip design, testing, and parallel quality and reliability groups.

Asaf's work experience also includes serving as an Electronics Technician in the IDF from August 1997 to August 2000.

Asaf Shoval has a strong background in engineering and biomedical sciences. Asaf earned their Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Tel Aviv University from 2009 to 2013. Prior to that, they completed their M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering at the same university, from 2005 to 2009. Asaf also holds a combined B.Sc. and B.A. degree in Electrical Engineering and Physics, which they obtained from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology from 2000 to 2005. Furthermore, they attended Handesaim high school affiliated with Tel Aviv University from 1993 to 1997, although no specific degree or field of study was mentioned for this period.
